A comprehensive overview of the evolution of the broader Campanulaceae: 925 taxa, 13 genes.

The Campanulaceae is a cosmopolitan group that includes five major lineages and approximately 2400 taxa in 84 traditionally circumscribed genera, many of which suffer from various degree of polyphyly. We have analyzed the largest dataset to date which includes 925 taxa and 13 gene regions in the chloroplast and nuclear genomes. We will be discussing the significance of gaps in this large matrix and assess the utility of RADICAL (Random Addition Concatenation Analysis) to evaluate the phylogenetic signals contributed by the different data partitions. Ultimately, we will present our results on lineage relationships, character reconstruction, and major biogeographic patterns.
