Comparative haustorium morphology and endophytic system In Loranthaceae species growing in kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a comparative morphological study of haustoria in the six Loranthaceae species growing naturally in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, two basic types of haustorium was found, epicortical root and union solitary. The endophytic system of the haustorium, however, showed differences, which allowed classiï¬cation first into flanging endophyte, and second into sinker endophyte. All the six species are most successful in establishing over a wide range of hosts due to its speciï¬c haustorium morphology and endophytic system.
