Flora of the Bogd Khan Mountain, Mongolia.

Bogd Khan Mountain is located on the southern edge of Ulaanbaatar City, the Mongolian capital. Also, this mountain is the southern part of the Khentee mountain ranges, which is the borderline between the forest steppe and steppe regions, as well as the southern borderland of the larch forest. This mountain with an area of 416 km2 was designated as the biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1996. The altitude of the area ranges is 1,309 ~ 2,268 m. A list of vascular plants of this mountain has been compiled from three fieldworks done during 2012–2013. In this research 56 family, 213 genera and 369 species were identified. The largest families of this region ranked according to the number of included species are Compositae with 58 species, Rosaceae with 29 species, Leguminosae and Ranunculaceae with 24 species, respectively, and Liliaceae with 17 species. Of those, 7 threatened plant species at regional level are included as fellows; Juniperus sabina L. (endangered), Allium altaicum Pall. (vulnerable), Lilium martagon L. (near threatened), Maianthemum dilatatum Wood) Neis. et Macbr. (vulnerable), Rhodiola rosea L. (vulnerable), Caryopteris monolica Bge. (vulnerable), and Solidago dahurica Kitag. (vulnerable). Two unrecorded species in Mongolia were collected and unidentified taxa were ca. 35 species.
